Being such a big Nissan fanboy I felt the underdog V35 series Skyline did deserve a more respectful build 😀ĭid some progress today and wrapped the exhaust. It's an engine out job now! 😆Ĭheers mate, not really pursuing the 'difference/uniqueness', but rather making something that (initially) seemed more economic and factory looking. I want to be super sure the exhaust will not leak as with the limited space, the manifolds are not removable anymore. With that in mind, I decided to get as much horsepower out of it as possible, which lead me to the 48mm and that will be connected to a dual 2.5' stainless exhaust. Not sure I can do much on the intake side yet but the stock exhaust manifold is a 'wavy' log style manifold with very tiny ports. I got lucky that I did manage to run the desired runner diameter of 48mm and have some wiggle room.įrom what I have read the main bottleneck on these engines are the intake and exhaust. The manifold on the steering rack side has to be squashed more towards the engine block, the other side has the starter so that has to go a bit away from the block. Never attempted to build my own manifold so it was also a learning process. Also verify the consult port is connected properly and there's no weirdness like loose pins or other damage to the connector. I've had a lot of issues like that due to a bad USB cable. Maybe with hot enough coolant it finally closes up enough to have sane timing values but still low side of what you should be seeing.Īlso, if you see the ECU connection dropping out I would make sure your USB connection is good first and foremost.

If it doesn't close up properly the idle target will drop because the ECU sees coolant temp has reached a reasonable target but the actual thermostat isn't closing up properly and that's causing it to have to yank the timing out to get there.

This is the part that I'm worried about leaking excess air assuming you don't have any other vacuum leaks. The other is a coolant temperature controlled thermostat that meters more air when coolant temps are low but closes up as the coolant temps go up. One is the solenoid valve which is almost certainly never going to fail. Ignition timing during engine warm-up is going to be a bit of a mess.

The super Autobacs would be worth checking out though. Not worth going to in my opinion, they only had car cleaning products and focused on interior parts and a decent selection of rims. It was the deiribashiten store and only a very short trip from Osaka train station. It might be worth checking out some other up garages though. it had 2 levels.the first with lots of good quality super cheap rims and the second floor with mainly head units, exhaust systems and coilovers, but not a lot of options for skylines. It was the one in minamitanaka, nerima, tokyo. I checked out one upgarage in Tokyo but it wasn't that great. parts are very pricey though but still an amazing experience and just under an hour by train from Tokyo train station.
